Kale Votour

Kale has been a passionate blacksmith for 9 years and welder for 8 years, continually refining his craft. He fell in love with the age old craft of Blacksmithing in a friend’s garage while stationed at Joint Base Lewis‑McChord in Washington State, where he served in the U.S. Air Force as a C‑17 aircraft electrician. Regularly attending Northwest Blacksmithing Association meetings, he deepened his skills and, after his service, earned an Associate’s Degree in Architectural Ironwork from the American College of the Building Arts in 2023. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, he worked and studied under some of the nation’s leading master blacksmiths Like Matt Garton, Abe Pardee, Pat Quinn, Haley Woodward, and Tim Miller to name a few. He worked firsthand on large forged and fabricated Team built projects, including the restoration of the Samuel Yellin weathervane atop the Vanderbilt Mansion in New York, sculptures and bike racks for the City of Charleston. His deep appreciation for historical techniques, preservation of the craft, and traditional practices brought him back to his hometown of Sarasota, Florida, where he is dedicated to reviving and sharing the nearly lost art. Available services include custom architectural ironwork, tool and die making, furniture, sculptural work, repoussé, welding, and fabrication.
